A man was indicted Wednesday for his alleged involvement in a doctor’s office located in downtown Mexicali, said the Attorney General’s office.
The agency said a state judge indicted Alan Israel “Doe,” no age reported, who along with two other individuals robbed the Zaragoza Avenue office at gunpoint.
The suspects arrived at the scene on an undisclosed date and brandished a firearm.
Authorities said the suspects took 3,000 pesos or $166, as well as a 42 inch television.
The suspects also took $800 and passports from two patients.
Authorities said the indicted suspect was a patient in the office two days before the robbery.
Fuel price liberalization cancelled
The liberalization of fuel prices that was set to begin Thursday in the states of Baja California and Sonora was cancelled, a Mexican agency reported.
Mexican government-owned oil company Petróleos Mexicanos, or Pemex in Spanish, ran an ad in several media outlets in the region to make the announcement.
“In order to provide certainty and competitive conditions to customers Pemex will keep the mechanisms of standing sale prices until a new notification is released,” Pemex said in the advertising.
No official announcement has been made on the agency’s website as of press time.
Mexico’s Energy Regulatory Commission released the prices of diesel and gasoline for Wednesday, but no new prices were listed for Thursday.
Baja California and Sonora were going to be the first states nationwide to open fuel prices to the free market under new regulations approved years ago.
Stepfather arrested for infant death
The stepfather of an infant who died days ago under suspicious circumstances was arrested Wednesday by state police officers, according to media reports.
Ministerial police agents apprehended José “Doe,” 36, at his Colonia Villa Verde neighborhood residence in eastern Mexicali.
The man is a person of interest in the death of María Fernanda Saturno, who was taken by her mother to a Red Cross clinic where paramedics declared her deceased.
State Ministerial police officers and state Preventive police agents arrested the suspect Wednesday night and was transported before a prosecutorial agency.
According to the reports authorities expect to bring the suspect before a judge for his indictment.
The girl was reported death Tuesday and the coroner’s office said the body had around 15 injuries.
Man found dead
A man was found dead Wednesday afternoon in a residence located in southern Mexicali, according to media reports.
The deceased man was found at 2:40 p.m. at the corridor of a home located at Ronda Street in Fraccionamiento Villas del Rey Quinta Etapa neighborhood.
According to authorities the body was tied with tape by the hands and feet.
The man had an injury on the head, which might have caused his death.
