A man and a woman were arrested Thursday on an Arizona-registered SUV in which 12.5 pounds of methamphetamine were found, said the state Secretary of Public Safety.
Authorities said an anonymous source reported the couple outside San Pablo Avenue at Colonia Santo Niño in western Mexicali while wrapping packages of an unknown substance.
Police officers found a 2007 Durango SUV with Arizona plates driven by Eliza “Doe,” 42.
The woman and her companion, who was identified as Pedro “Doe,” 49, were showing a suspicious behavior, authorities said.
Police agents found in the vehicle’s back seat 10 packages of methamphetamine, valued at 2.8 million pesos or $167,941.
Authorities said the suspects allegedly were going to attempt to cross the drug to the United States.
The suspects and the drug were transported to a federal agency.
Alleged sexual harasser arrested
A man who attempted to sexually abuse a teenager in a public transportation bus was indicted under charges of sexual abuse against a minor, said the Attorney General’s office.
Authorities said a judge decided Octavio “Doe,” 41, must remain in jail while the trial moves forward.
The suspect was arrested after presumably touching inappropriately a 15-year- old girl on May 17 while traveling on a bus.
The suspect allegedly touched the girl’s breast that led the victim to move from her seat.
Before the girl left, the suspect presumably put his hand inside his slacks.
The victim reported the incident to the driver who called the police.
The man was arrested at the entrance of Fraccionamiento Palmar de Santa Anita neighborhood.
Robbery suspect arrested
A man who attempted to rob a convenience store in southern Mexicali was arrested early Thursday by police officers, said the Municipal Public Safety Department.
Authorities said Francisco “Doe,” 27, was arrested after allegedly committing a robbery at Extra store located at Granada Avenue and Xochimilco Boulevard at Fraccionamiento Xochicali.
The police said the suspect arrived at the store and threatened the cashier with a firearm.
The suspect demanded money from the employee and fled on feet.
Police officers found and arrested the suspect moments later.
According to authorities the suspect has two active arrest warrants for robbery and one for drug possession.
The suspect was transported to a prosecutorial office, the police said.
Couple arrested after robbery
A man and a woman were arrested Thursday evening after allegedly committing a robbery in a convenience store, said the Municipal Public Safety Department.
Police officers arrested Francisco “Doe,” and Diana “Doe,” both 35, after allegedly committing a robbery at the SIX store of Oaxaca Avenue and Comatitlán Street at Fraccionamiento San Miguel.
According to authorities the couple arrived at the store and brandished a firearm against a 21-year- old female cashier.
The suspects allegedly threatened to throw gasoline on the employee.
The couple was presumably able to get 1,000 pesos or $58.82, a pack of beer, a bag of chips and cookies.
The suspects fled on a black 2015 Nissan Sentra with California plates.
Police agents found and arrested the couple moments later and transported them to a prosecutorial office.
