    Residents invited to vaccination week

    The Second National Vaccination Week was launched Saturday and is scheduled to end Friday, in which infants and children can be taken to any public health facility to obtain vaccines.

    Even though the campaign is permanent, authorities emphasize during national weeks on minors up to 6-years-old.

    Authorities provide vaccines for free and install clinics in strategic areas like shopping malls.

    Parents also receive informational items regarding respiratory and digestive diseases.

     

    Arizona fugitive found, arrested

    A Somerton resident whom U.S. authorities were searching for was found and arrested by state police officers in Mexicali Valley’s Ciudad Morelos, said the Baja California Attorney General’s office.

    Authorities said the U.S. Marshals Service asked their state counterparts to find the suspect who had an active arrest warrant in Arizona for sexual abuse and exploitation of a minor.

    State police agents found Jonathan Derric McQuitty, 21, at Ciudad Morelos, southwest of the Andrade Port of Entry.

    The suspect is considered a sexual predator, the Attorney General’s office said.

    According to Baja California authorities, the suspect was accused in 2011 for sexual exploitation and sexual abuse against a minor.

    In 2014 McQuitty was accused again for allegedly sexual assault against several minors, including relatives and cousin’s friends.

    The Attorney General’s office said the fugitive fled from Arizona and moved to Mexicali to avoid his arrest.

    The suspect was turned to officers with the National Immigration Institute of Mexico who deport him to the United States on Friday, according to Customs and Border Protection.

    The suspect was booked in Imperial County Jail waiting for his extradition to Yuma County, Arizona.

     

    Man arrested for tagging

    A 27-year-old man was arrested Sunday morning after tagging a city sports facility, said the Municipal Public Safety Department.

    Authorities said Samuel “Doe” was arrested at 10:59 a.m. at the northwestern corner of Centro Recreativo CREA, located at Chilpancingo Street and Coahuila Avenue at Colonia Guajardo in southern Mexicali.

    Authorities reported damages to the center’s walls.

    No more details were provided.

     

    Net income share payment due Monday

    State employers must pay the net income share benefit by May 30 or otherwise face fines of up to $20,588.

    In a press release, the state Secretary of Labor said the deadline is for companies and corporations.

    The deadline for individuals who run businesses is June 29.

    In case a worker does not receive their payment employees can request advise from authorities.

    Mexico’s Federal Labor Law mandates all businesses must pay a portion of their net income to their employees based on the number of days the worker has been working with the company.
