    Alleged murderer arrested

    A man who authorities believe is the one who killed a woman who was found dead Friday was arrested by state police officers, said the Attorney General’s office.

    Assistant Attorney General for Special Investigations David Lozano said the suspect was identified as Oscar Antonio “Doe”, 27.

    The woman was found deceased April 8 at Colonia Pueblo Nuevo, just west of the Civic Center, wrapped on blankets and full of blood.

    Authorities said the woman’s body had several injuries caused with a knife.

    The deceased woman has not been identified.

    Authorities also detained woman blocks away on a pickup with a blood-stained blanket and a pair of women pants.

    The suspect was booked in Mexicali Jail.

     

    Three indicted for stealing vehicles

    Three men were indicted for allegedly stealing vehicles in three different cases, said the Attorney General’s office.

    Assistant Attorney General in Mexicali Fernando Ramírez said the first suspect indicted was Rafael “Doe”, 36, who was arrested March 18 at Carranza Blvd. and Río Támesis street.

    The vehicle owner told police officers the automobile was stolen from her residence at Colonia Independencia on a burgundy 1991 Nissan Sentra.

    The suspect has been involved in possession of firearm and drug smuggling crimes.

    The assistant attorney general said the second suspect was identified as Ramón “Doe”, 24, who was arrested on a 1999 GMC Sonoma truck that was reported stolen March 26 at Colonia El Roble in eastern Mexicali.

    The suspect was arrested at Carranza Blvd. and San Felipe Highway after impacting while fleeing and being chased by the vehicle owner.

    Ramírez said Luis Gabriel “Doe”, 35, was arrested March 28 at Azurita Avenue and Galena Street at Fraccionamiento Valle del Pedregal after allegedly threatening a driver of a motorcycle with a knife.

    The victim left the motorcycle on the suspect’s hands, authorities said.

    The suspect was arrested moments later by local police officers.

     

    Registration renewal discount announced

    A state official announced a new program to discount vehicle registration money owed to the state coffers that will run during the midterm election.

    Secretary of Planning and Finance Antonio Valladolid said the program will remain opened from April 9 until June 30.

    Vehicle owners will be given up to 100 percent discount in fines, drivers’ licenses, vehicle registration document updates, as well as in education taxes included on the registration.

    The program also includes business owners who owe taxes, fines, and other debt to the state.

    Valladolid said the goal of the program is to facilitate payment of state registration and improve families’ economy statewide.

    Election campaign begins April 12 and finishes with the June 5 election.
