An individual was arrested Tuesday night for his alleged involvement in a southern Mexicali store robbery, said the Municipal Public Safety Department.
Authorities said Wednesday the suspect was identified as Bryan "Doe," 26.
The police said the robbery was reported at 8:50 pm at the Soriana store located at Anahuac Boulevard and Gomez Morin Boulevard at Fraccionamiento Casa Digna neighborhood.
According to media reports three individuals arrived at the store and shot several times against the roof.
Then the suspects took a television set and fled from the scene on a white Ford F250 pickup with California plates. The suspect vehicle was found in the patio of an abandoned home located at Fraccionamiento Hacienda de Castilla neighborhood.
The police said the suspects fled again on a 2005 Chevrolet Yukon in which the suspect was found and apprehended.
Trade activity report released
A Mexican agency released the trade activity report of October, in which Baja California had mixed results.
The National Institute of Statistics and Geography, or INEGI in Spanish, said wholesale trade activity reported two months ago a decrease of 2.1 percent in terms of revenue compared to the same month of 2016. The decrease was the eleventh largest among Mexican states.
Employment increased 6.0 percent and salaries decreased 3.5 percent in wholesale trade, the agency said.
In the meantime, revenue in retail trade climbed 1.4 percent, employment increased 5.3 percent and salaries grew 2.2 percent.
Burglary attempt with bus reported
A burglary attempt of an automatic teller machine was reported Wednesday morning in an office of Mexicali Public Utilities Commission in eastern Mexicali, according to media reports.
Police officers were notified Wednesday morning of the burglary in which the suspects used an old school bus utilized by a private transportation company.
The office is located at Fifth Avenue and Atoyac Street in the unincorporated area of Gonzalez Ortega, known in Spanish as Palaco.
According to the report the suspects tried to get the ATM at the bus, but due to the accident the vehicle had a flat tire.
The suspects apparently tied the bus to the ATM to extract the machine. The bus' tire got flat and the suspects were unable to leave the area with the ATM on the vehicle.
Employees notified authorities of the incident.
