Two men were sentenced Monday to four years in prison after being found guilty of a robbery reported on May in a store located in rural Mexicali, said the Attorney General’s office.
Authorities said Juan José “Doe” and Miguel Ángel “Doe” were convicted for the May 21 robbery against a store located by State Highway 4 at Colonia Carranza.
Authorities said the suspects arrived at the scene and brandished a firearm to threaten a cashier.
The employee gave the suspects 15,000 pesos or $750.
The suspects fled on a white Buick Oldsmobile with California plates that they abandoned and took another vehicle to flee to another rural town, but were eventually arrested.
Man found inside vehicle
The body of a man was found dead inside a vehicle in southern Mexicali, according to media reports.
The corpse was located at Street 55 and Tratado de Guadalupe Street at Colonia Hidalgo in the back seat of a blue BMW x5, with Baja California plates.
Auhorities said the man had a wound shot on the neck.
The man, who was identified as Martín Arredondo, was wrapped on a blanket, according to the reports.
