Baja California Assembly Speaker Ignacio García said lawmakers have remained working although their building was blocked by protesters.
Garcia, who said lawmakers respect residents’ freedom of speech rights, said the Assembly has addressed most protesters issues during meetings.
However, the Speaker called protestors disrespectful and provoking with their behavior.
Garcia said those impacted are residents who have been unable to solve problems in terms of health, education and well-being.
Assembly members have been working in committees and meeting with constituents and stakeholders.
Garcia asked protestors to think on the blockade and its impact on residents.
The second round of negotiations between protesters and lawmakers has failed again.
Assembly Speaker Ignacio García met Tuesday with people who have blocked the Legislature’s Building since Sunday in order to seek to resolve the issue, but to no avail.
The lawmaker proposed protesters to meet Thursday with members of the Commission of Government, Legislation and Constitutional Affairs chaired by National Action Party member Andrés De La Rosa.
The proposal was voted previously by the Legislature’s Political Coordinating Board.
The meeting was scheduled at 1 p.m. inside the legislative building.
Blockade leaders discussed the proposal for 10 minutes.
Protesters asked to hold the meeting at 5 p.m. outside legislative premises.
Speaker García denied the counter-proposal and the meeting was concluded by both sides.

A state official said interim teachers will get their salary payment Friday.

Last year the state paid 507 million pesos to cover unpaid salaries for interim teachers.
Carrazco asked teachers to understand the state’s financial issues.
Teachers have been protesting in demand of their payment during the last days.
The state was to make those payments Monday, authorities said previously.
