Seven years after the Easter Earthquake the state presented the temblor contingency plan to address catastrophic emergency.
The plan sets a protocol of activities for all state agencies within the first 48 hours after an emergency in a single plan, said Secretary of Government Francisco Rueda.
The state also held a earthquake drill in which 33171 employees took part statewide, reported State Executive Officer Loreto Quintero.
Over 800,000 students of more than 4000 schools also took part of the drill.
The City of Mexicali participated in the drill.
Emergency management director René Rosado said more than 800 employees were evacuated in 3:42 minutes.
Rosado said the city has trained staff to create groups within the local government in case of an emergency.
The director asked residents to create their own family emergency plan due to the regions high seismic activity.
Two caught for robbery
Two men were arrested Tuesday for their alleged involvement in a robbery against a business, said the Municipal Public Safety Department.
Authorities said a robbery was reported at Carnicería del Valle meat shop located at Limonita Street and Baritina Street at Fraccionamiento Valle del Pedregal neighborhood.
The victim told police agents the suspects arrived at the scene and brandished a firearm to demand money.
The suspects took 1,000 pesos or $58.82 and fled on foot.
Blocks ahead, police agents found and arrested Alexis “Doe” and Ezequiel “Doe,” both 21.
The men were in possession of the cash and an imitation gun.
The suspects were transported to the police headquarters.
Campaign launched to prevent accidents
State officials warned residents about the accident at home and streets that increase during spring break.
State Secretary of Public Health Guillermo Trejo said teenagers are of special concern as the main death cause is vehicle accidents among people 15-19 years of age.
Over 90 percent of those accidents are preventable, Trejo said.
He also asked residents to be aware at home as accidents also observe a climb during the Holly Week recess.
Accident Prevention Council Chair Olegario Noriega said the goal of authorities is to make sure residents take the appropriate preventative measures to reduce traffic accidents.
Statewide traffic accidents observed a reduction of 26 percent during spring break compared to the same period of 2015.
Noriega asked drivers to always use car belts and infant seats, avoid driving tired or under the influence, refrain from using mobile devices and respect traffic signals.
School burglaries reported
Mexicali’s Municipal Public Safety Department reported the rest of a pair of individuals who allegedly trespassed into a couple of schools in order to commit burglaries.
