Donald Trump hates Mexicans. He hates them because one of them is richer, smarter and far more important than Donald Trump. That is Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim whose New York City Residence is worth far more than Donald Trump’s and who is five to ten times richer than Trump.
That is the Donald Trump running for President. That is the Donald Trump who opened his campaign for President by labeling most Mexican immigrants as “criminals,” “rapists” and drug smugglers. Despite claiming he meant “Illegal” U.S. bound Mexican immigrants, he meant most Mexicans. Most Mexican immigrants are not criminals, rapists or even illegal immigrants. Most are legal immigrants and have been legal for years.
A simple parsing of his opening Presidential campaign announcement clearly proves Trump manifests a clear and present racist and hateful attitude about all Mexicans. After disparaging Mexican immigrants, he threw in one positive word at the end of his viciously anti-Mexican screed — the word “some.” He said some Mexicans were “nice” people. That is a racist statement. If “some” are “nice” then the antonyms are “EVERY” one is not nice or “MANY” are not. Or MOST are not “nice.”
Another proof of Trump’s deep-seated racism is his continual tirades against the U.S. and Canadian trade agreement with Mexico — the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Most observers delight in expounding facts such as between 6 and 14 million Americans work in trade with Mexico. Others point to an annual trade of a trillion dollars with Canada and Mexico. Specifically, the US/Mexico trade is $1.4-billion-a-day with a million Mexicans and Americans LEGALLY crossing the border every single day. 600,000 Texans work in trade with Mexico; Texas sells $195 billion worth of goods and services a year to Mexico. Over 600,000 Mexican commercial trucks enter the United States a year just into San Diego County at a rate of one every 20 seconds. A million Americans live and/or work in Mexico.
In California, 400,000 people work in trade with Mexico. There are people in every single state of the U.S. that work in trade with Mexico. Trump never mentions these facts and numbers. He dwells on companies that have moved to Mexico over the years, moves he blames on NAFTA. That is a Trump lie.
American car companies opened factories in Mexico in the 1920s. American companies rushed into Mexico in 1946 when free entrepreneur Mexican President Miguel Aleman junked much of Mexico’s protectionism and welcomed American companies into Mexico. Japanese car company Nissan opened its first car manufacturing plant in Mexico in 1961 when Trump was a school kid.
American companies opened up in Mexico’s free trade border zone in 1965 when the Mexicans established the “Maquiladora” program that accounts for 25 percent of current Mexican production. Trump was a teenager when that program started, started as it was to fill the employment gap that occurred when the Americans ended the “Bracero” farm worker program in which millions of Mexicans were legally allowed to work on American farms (1943-1963).
Trump lies about Mexico stealing Mexican jobs, jobs disappear every day when the businesses go out of business. An owner or a company is free to move to wherever it can to survive. If it moves from California to Texas, Trump says nothing. If it moves one more mile into Mexico, Trump screams. Meanwhile, Trump has many of his clothes made in Mexico under NAFTA.
Trump lies about the trade deficit with Mexico. Yes, it exists. But…the U.S. has a trade deficit with every single European country as well. In fact the second largest U.S. trade deficit is not with Mexico, it is with Germany where Trump’s grandparents came from. Where are Trump’s cries against Italy with which we have a $27 billion trade deficit, or the one we have with Ireland and its 4 million people — $30.4 billion? The U.S. trade deficit with Germany — $74 billion — dwarf’s the one we have with Mexico — $58 billion. The simple fact is Trump lies about trade with Mexico and NAFTA. Blatant lies.
Trump lies about an “illegal alien crime wave.” He blatantly lies. San Diego shares its city limits with Tijuana, Mexico. Illegal border crossers enter San Diego every day. No one knows how many illegally present Mexicans are in San Diego but a fair assessment would say there are probably more than in Kansas City or Buffalo, New York. Trump lies about an illegal alien “crime wave.”
From 2000 to 2013 San Diego violent crimes fell 25%, murders fell 27%, rapes fell 9%, robberies fell 18% and aggravated assaults fell 29 percent. Where is Trump’s illegal alien crime wave?
It isn’t in San Diego, or Los Angeles or in Texas border city El Paso. Those three “border” cities are in the top five safest cities in the country based on FBI statistics.
Trump lies about Mexican people, trade with Mexico and crime by Mexicans. Any Mexican American voter who votes for Donald Trump stabs himself in the back politically and socially. He/she is also stupid.
