A man who was sought by American law enforcement agencies was found and arrested Friday by state police officers, an official with the Secretary of Public Safety said.
International Liaison Coordinator Rodolfo Luna said the FBI and the U.S. Marshals Service released an alert to their Mexican counterparts regarding the whereabouts of Alejandro Vázquez, 40.
U.S. police agencies were looking for the suspect for his involvement in a sexual abuse case dated back to 2006 in Los Angeles.
State Preventive police officers found the suspect while walking by Cabildo Street at Colonia Carbajal.
The suspect denied the charges but the state officers confirmed the allegations with the FBI liaison.
Vázquez was turned to the Mexican National Immigration Institute for his deportation to the United States, Luna said.
