    Dozens attend temporary shelter

A total of 47 residents have attended the temporary shelter opened by the City of Mexicali to avoid high temperatures.

Family Development Director María Romero said the Casa de la Cultura de la Juventud shelter opens from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Residents can get a shower, food and a bed to sleep while the weather reaches high temperatures.

The space is vital for homeless or who do not have an air conditioning unit at home, she said.

Attendants can also receive medical assistance at the shelter.

The place has capacity for up to 80 people, Romero said.

In case residents find someone who might need help they can dial the 066 hotline for police officers or firefighters transport those who require it.
