Human legs found in oil facilities

A pair of legs that belonged to a person were found Monday at the old Mexican Petroleum company also known as Pemex in Spanish.

According to media reports, the legs were tied with a rope and had its pants on.

The finding was reported at noon at the facilities located at Lázaro Cárdenas Blvd. and López Mateos Blvd., north of one of Mexicali’s Walmart stores.

Police officers said the legs belonged to a male person.

The body parts were transported to the state Coroner’s Office.

    Last name bill announced

A state lawmaker announced a proposal to reform the Civil Code in order to allow parents to name their children with the last names in the order they want to.

Assemblyman Armando Reyes, an Ensenada member of the leftist Work Party, said the bill seeks to acknowledge parents’ rights to name their children at their will under consent agreement.

In Mexico, citizens hold the paternal last name first and then the maternal one.

The bill will allow women to register their children with their last names first.

This, according to the lawmaker, will break traditional stereotypes that had impacted equality rights in the state.
