Two men who had criminal background were arrested Tuesday in possession of a firearm, said the Municipal Public Safety Department.
Authorities said at 12 p.m. David “Doe,” 30, aka “El Gato,” and Juan Manuel “Doe,” 20, aka “El Pollo,” were arrested while driving a black 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt with California plates at Macristy Avenue and Villalpando Street at Colonia El Lienzo, west of the East Port of Entry.
According to the police, the suspects were found by law enforcement agents around Plaza San Pedro.
The driver tried to flee over the speed limit, but was stopped blocks ahead.
Police agents asked for the vehicle’s documents, and the suspects were not able to provide the papers.
The officers found a .38-caliber Colt revolver loaded with four cartridges.
The suspects were transported to the police headquarters to begin their processing.
According to authorities, the suspects have been involved in carjacking incidents.
Suspects rob car dealership
Several suspects with firearms robbed a car dealership early Wednesday and took three brand-new vehicles from scene, according to media reports.
The suspects, who covered their faces with masks, arrived at 3 a.m. at the Audi dealership at Lázaro Cárdenas Boulevard and threatened the security guard, who was later tied
The suspects allegedly took the guard’s cell phone to forbid him from reporting the incident to the police.
The victim was later enclosed in a vehicle.
According to media reports, the suspects then took three vehicles and left scene.
Authorities received a report about the incident at 6:30 a.m.
Local and state police officers are searching for the vehicles that have a GPS system that might lead to finding the stolen property.
Man killed at Port of Entry
A man was killed Tuesday night by two suspects with an ice picker yards on the Mexican side of the Calexico Downtown Port of Entry, according to media reports.
Minutes before midnight, police officers were requested on scene.
After their arrival, police agents found Jorge Armando Leyva Flores, 38, who was lying on the floor and bleeding.
According to witnesses, the victim was cleaning vehicles’ windows when two men arrived and an argument began.
One of the suspects brandished a knife and injured the victim with an ice picker.
The suspects left scene immediately.
Police officers searched the area to find the suspects, but to no avail.
Authorities have not found the reason that led to the argument and murder.
The victim has been booked in Mexicali Jail 35 times for misdemeanor crimes like drug and knife possession.
