The second of a series of year-long conferences has been scheduled for Saturday at Mexicali’s Central State Public Library, according to an announcement made by Baja California’s Cultural Institute.
The event —scheduled to begin at noon at Main Conference Room at the Alvaro Obregón Street library— will have as speaker Kathy Pedrín who will speak about female participation in beer culture.
Pedrín, a teacher who has a bachelor degree in design, founded the Mexican Women Beer Taster Association.
The speaker also works for a craft beer company in Ensenada, where she is a member of craft beer organizations.
The goal of the seminar is to acknowledge women’s participation in beer production, tasting and evaluation, as well as the promotion of beer culture and science, the institution said.
The conference series seeks to educate public about beer impact in the economy, technology, science, social movements, arts, law and food.
Every month the institute has scheduled a conference at the library regarding different topics about beer.
Next conference will be on May 3 at 7 p.m. with Javier Sánchez Valenzuela, owner of a Mexicali craft beer company.
