Four individuals were arrested Thursday morning after allegedly committing a robbery against a business and attempting to flee on a California-plated vehicle reported stolen, said the Municipal Public Safety Department.
Authorities said at 9:10 a.m. police officers arrested Raúl “Doe,” 24, Juan José “Doe,” 40, Estela “Doe,” 35 and Estefania “Doe,” 18.
The suspects were caught in possession of a .38 modified revolver loaded with five 9-milimeter caliber cartridges.
The suspects attempted to flee on a golden 2001 Chevrolet Impala with California plates that was reported stolen Wednesday at fraccionamiento El Dorado neighborhood.
According to the police, the suspects arrived at a business located at 31 de Diciembre Street and Ejército Nacional Street.
One of the suspects brandished the revolver against a 40-year-old man and took 380 pesos or $21.1, two bags of chips, cookies and a package of flour tortillas, authorities said.
The suspects were arrested and transported to the police headquarters.
Cop shot, suspects arrested
A state police officer was shot by two men who were eventually arrested, said the state Secretary of Public Safety.
Authorities said at 8:12 p.m. the police officer requested assistance after the shooting.
According to the agency, the suspects shot his vehicle outside his residence.
The agent arrived home after his shift.
On his way, he observed several men at Fraccionamiento Hacienda Los Portales III in southern Mexicali.
While approaching the men one of the suspects brandished a shotgun and shot the agent’s vehicle.
A fragment of a bullet reached the state police officer.
The agent was able to arrest Adrián “Doe,” 18.
Other police officers arrested Ismael “Doe,” 47, who was accused of shooting the agent.
Authorities said the shot did not put the officer’s life in risk.
Men arrested on vehicle reported stolen
Four men were arrested Wednesday night in southern Mexicali while driving a vehicle reported stolen after the driver made traffic violation, said the Municipal Public Safety Department.
Authorities said 11:30 p.m. police agents stopped the driver of a white 1995 Honda Accord who passed on a stop sign.
The driver was acting very nervous, the police said.
An agent asked the driver to proof vehicle property, but the suspect was not able to provide any documents.
Police agents determined the vehicle was previously reported stolen, authorities said.
Police officers arrested Vicente “Doe,” 22, Héctor “Doe,” 19, Gustavo “Doe,” 27 and Ulises “Doe,” 18.
The suspects were transported to the police headquarters.
