    Man indicted for homicide

    A man was indicted Thursday for charges of DUI homicide in connection with the dead of an elderly woman and causing injuries to her granddaughter on Mexico’s Mothers’ Day.

    A state judge indicted Luis Alfredo “Doe,” 40, who allegedly ran over the victims at Colonia Carranza neighborhood May 10 while driving under the influence of methamphetamines, the Attorney General’s office said.

    The suspect was arrested after the accident in which Alicia García died and Mía Camila Velazco got injured in eastern Mexicali.

    The incident was reported at San Pedro Mezquital Avenue and F Street, the police previously said.

    According to authorities the suspect was driving a white 1999 Ford Explorer.

    The driver lost control of the vehicle, jumped over a street division where the victims were waiting to cross the street.

    The elderly woman died at the scene and the minor was transported to

    Mexicali’s General Hospital.

    Mexicali police officers apprehended the suspect at the scene.

    The judge decided to keep the suspect behind bars during trial and gave detectives six months to close the investigation.

    Man arrested for robbery

    A 21-year-old man was arrested Thursday afternoon in eastern Mexicali after allegedly robbing a pharmacy, said the Municipal Public Safety Department.

    Authorities said police officers apprehended Christian Eduardo “Doe” after a robbery was reported by 4:30 p.m. at Farmacia GI, located at Carranza Boulevard, between F and G Streets at Colonia Venustiano Carranza neighborhood.

    Two employees told police agents a couple of individuals arrived at the scene and one of them brandished a firearm.

    The suspects fled the business on a green bicycle.

    Police officers found the suspect blocks ahead in possession of a black wallet owned by one of the victims, as well as the keys of a vehicle.

    The agents were unable to find the robbed cash or the weapon.

    The suspect was transported to the police headquarters, authorities said.

    Man arrested for robbery

    A 24-year-old man was arrested Thursday after allegedly committing a robbery at a water vending business, the police said.

    Authorities said a report was made at 4:40 p.m. regarding a robbery at a business located at Roberto Montenegro Street and Cerro Street at Fraccionamiento La Bodega neighborhood.

    The suspect was identified as Miguel “Doe.”

    An employee told police agents the suspect arrived at the scene and brandished a firearm.

    The suspect took a pink-colored iPhone and 120 pesos.

    Authorities said the suspect fled the site on a black motorcycle.

    Police agents found and arrested the suspect blocks ahead in possession of the cash and a black imitation firearm.

    The suspect was transported to the police headquarters.

    Man sentenced for robbery

    A man was sentenced Friday to 4 years and 6 months in prison after being convicted of a Dec. 2016 robbery at a convenience store, said the Attorney General’s office.

    The agency said José Alfredo “Doe” declared himself guilty of taking part of the robbery of an Oxxo store located by Génesis Avenue at Fraccionamiento Condesa subdivision.

    Authorities said the convicted man and two other individuals arrived at the store on December 11.

    José Alfredo went to the cash register and brandished a firearm to threaten an employee.

    The convicted man’s accomplices took several boxes of beer, bottles of liquor and gadgets valued at 8,874.50 pesos or $493.

    The suspect was arrested by police officers.
