Representatives of the State Public Employee Union delivered Mexicali Mayor Jaime Díaz their request for a 10 percent salary increase for next year.
The union’s secretary General Victoria Bentley, who is also a state lawmakers with the mayor’s National Action Party, made the official deposit of the organization’s petition of General Working Conditions with the city for 2017.
The proposal now moves forward to a series of meetings between the parties in order to address its content.
The city said the salary increase will be under review and it will depend on the city’s financial ability as well as the negotiations held at the state level.
The City’s Executive Officer Maribel Avilez and City Treasurer Rogelio Pineda attended the meeting, as well as the union’s Secretary of Finance Gaspar Valenzuela and Accounting Officer Ismael Ayón.
