Baja California Governor Francisco Vega launched Wednesday the new State Child and Teenager Protection Services System, in which several agencies are involved.
The goal of the new agency is to strengthen and get closer all the state, federal, and local programs to provide appropriate protection services to the youth.
Gov. Vega asked families to get involved in the effort to grant children’s rights as the only way to solve issues impacting the state.
“We are obligated by law to apply the law and we have to work by respecting the law,” he said. “We know that by applying (the law) will take us to the common good we all want.”
National Protection Services Secretary Ricardo Bucio said the law mandates every state must have a similar agency to protect children’s rights.
First Lady Brenda Ruacho underlined the approval of several laws and bills to protect children statewide.
Gov. Vega appointed former Assemblyman Armando Terán as the Executive Secretary of the state’s system, who will be in charge of creating manuals, an assessment board and the opening of similar agencies at the municipal level.
