    New transparency bill approved

State lawmakers voted Thursday in favor of a bill that, if enacted, will mandate all residents and entities that receive public funds to make public their information and deliver it when citizens require it.

The bill was voted unanimously by Assembly members, but still need to run on the State’s Periodical Journal to become law.

The new law has 171 articles and supersedes the actual law.

Assemblyman Cuauhtémoc Cardona, a Tijuana member of the National Action Party, said the bill mandates authorities must prove impact when denying information requests.

Members of the Transparency Institute will be appointed by a group of residents according to the new law, he said.

The new law was addressed for several organizations during public hearings held statewide months ago.

All the parties impacted by the law must modify their regulations according to the new law in 90 days after the bill becomes law, Cardona said.
