Two Mexicali police officers rescued Thursday morning three minors who were inside a residence where a fire was reported, said the Municipal Public Safety Department.
Authorities said a fire was reported at the emergency center at 10:20 a.m.
Police agents arrived at 4449 Amixtlán Street at Fraccionamiento Valle de Puebla in southeastern Mexicali and observed heave smoke coming from the back yard of the residence.
A neighbor told the police several children were inside the home.
Agents José Esparza and Enrique Noriega entered the residence and took David Alejandro “Doe,” 4 and Santos Iván “Doe,” 3, out of the house.
The children told the officers their 1-year-old sister was still inside sleeping.
Agent Noriega took María Guadalupe from a bedroom full of smoke.
Paramedics attended the children and reported the minors were out of danger.
Firefighters extinguished the fire within minutes.
Staff with the Domestic Violence Unit took charge of the minors.
The officers were assigned to the police station opened days ago.
Man indicted for robbery
A man was indicted by a state judge for his alleged involvement in a March robbery of a pharmacy, said the Attorney General’s office.
Authorities said the suspect was identified as Miguel Angel “Doe,” aka “Chiquilín.”
The judge decided to keep the suspect behind bars during trial and gave detectives two months to close the investigation.
The agency said the suspect arrived on March 8 at Farmacias GI, located by Hector Terán Avenue at Colonia Joaquin Murrieta neighborhood.
The suspect asked for some pills and while paying for the medicine allegedly brandished a firearm and took 1271 pesos or $70 from the cash register.

Man arrested for taxi robbery
A man was arrested early Friday after allegedly committing a robbery against a taxi driver, said the Municipal Public Safety Department.
The suspect was identified by authorities as José “Doe,” 24, authorities said.
Authorities said at 4:20 a.m. the victim approached police officers who were patrolling close to López Mateos Boulevard and Anáhuac Boulevard at Fraccionamiento Ferrocarril neighborhood.
The victim told police officers he was a taxi cab driver and was just a victim of a robbery.
The suspect allegedly brandished a screwdriver and took 600 pesos or $33.
Police officers found the suspect blocks ahead.
However, the agents were unable to find the money and the screwdriver.
The suspect was transported to the police headquarters.
Minor reported missing
State authorities requested support from the community in order to find a 12-year-old boy who has been missing for a week.
The Attorney General’s office said Jonathan Aleluya Ortiz was reported missing since May 28 after relatives filed a report with the State Investigative Unit for Missing People.
Family members told authorities the minor left his Fraccionamiento Valle de las Misiones neighborhood residence without parent consent.
The minor has been seen in the surroundings of the West Port of Entry, the agency said.
The boy has a scar in the right side of the chin and another one on his right hand fingers.
Relatives told authorities the minor was dressed with blue short pants, navy blue shirt and black tennis shoes.
Residents can call 9-1-1 to report any information regarding the minor’s whereabouts.
