    Brawley man arrested in Mexicali

    A Brawley men whom U.S. Marshals were searching for was found and apprehended in Mexicali by Preventive police officers, said the Baja California Department of Public Safety.

    The agency said the suspect was identified as Hector Manuel Mayorga Jr., 27, who was considered highly dangerous.

    The suspect presumably has been fleeing through several states.

    U.S. authorities reported the whereabouts of Mayorga Jr., who has been accused of firearm possession and probation violation.

    State police officers found the suspect at Puerto Plata Street at Colonia Villas del Palmar neighborhood.

    Police agents stopped the individual, who denied the charges.

    A police officer confirmed the arrest warrant at the emergency dispatching center.

    Mayorga Jr. was arrested and turned to the Mexican National Immigration Institute for his removal from Mexico.

    Man arrested for daughter’s rape

    A man was arrested Wednesday by Ministerial police officers for allegedly committing rape against his own daughter, said the Attorney General’s office.

    Authorities said in a press release the suspect was identified as Carlos “Doe,” 59.

    State police agents apprehended the man who had an arrest warrant released by a local judge.

    According to the agency the minor filed a lawsuit against her father on Nov. 11, 2016.

    The victim told authorities the suspect began sexually abusing her since 2015, when she was 14 years of age.

    The agency took psychological and gynecological tests to the minor that resulted positive.

    The suspect was indicted for rape against a minor of less than 14 years of age.

    The judge decided to keep the suspect in jail during trial and gave detectives three months to close the investigation.

    City council members approve bill

    Mexicali City Council members approved Wednesday a constitutional amendment to create the state first anti-corruption system.

    The bill previously approved in the assembly required a favorable vote by the majority of the five city councils of Baja California.

    Ensenada and Tecate city council people voted before Mexicali for the bill.

    Regardless of the outcome vote by Tijuana and Rosarito Beach the bill can now be enacted by the Governor’s office. 

    Mexicali Mayor Gustavo Sánchez said the system will bring transparency, accountability and disciplinary actions against those who break the law. 

    Mexicali City Councilman Héctor Ibarra said the system involves resident participation in evaluating and appointing of officials, public fund management and other issues. 

    Councilwoman Edwviges Pio said the new law seeks to make sure public officials perform well while in office.
