A state legislative official announced Thursday the second phase of the Legislature’s budget cuts that will save taxpayers 45 million pesos or $2.5 million.
State Superior Auditor Carlos Padilla made the announcement during a press conference held at the Political Coordinating Board office and its membership, who will be in charge of the changes.
This second phase of the legislative’s re-engineering process will cut 102 jobs, of which 12 will be reassigned to other areas and 90 are set to disappear.
Based on a study, Padilla said the changes will not mean an impact in the most important tasks at the Legislature or the Office of the Auditor.
“This way we advance in the promise made of being a more honest and transparent Legislature,” said Assemblywoman Rocío López, a member of the leftist Democratic Revolutionary Party.
The lawmaker said next week the third round of budget cuts will be announced.
Assemblyman Carlos Torres, a Tijuana member of the conservative National Action Party said the first phase includes savings of 56 million pesos or $3.1 million.
