A Mexican Senator asked Mexicans with U.S. citizenship to vote against Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Sen. Victor Hermosillo, a former Mexicali Mayor and member of the National Action Party, or PAN in Spanish, introduced a resolution requesting a detailed report from the Mexican Executive regarding the meeting with Trump held by the end of August.
“In external affairs what we must do is ask those American citizens, who were Mexicans in the past, to vote against that demagogue who has insulted them and has put them in a place they do not deserve,” Sen. Hermosillo said. “Most of those Mexicans are now American citizens but do not vote. I hope with this (meeting) they wake up and vote against this person.”
He said what Trump is looking for is to win over with voters making proposals impossible to come to fruition.
The Mexican Legislature has to seek ways to influence in external affairs, which is part of its constitutional duties, he said.
Hermosillo invited Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto to dialogue and explain details of his meeting with Trump.
“If he went to speak with (Mexican anchor Carlos) Marín, I do not see any objection to come and dialogue with PAN Senators,” Hermosillo said. “We want to know what really happened during that visit as many versions about it have come out.”
Baby reported missing
The report of a 5-day-old baby reported missing Tuesday afternoon in southeastern Mexicali led state authorities to activate the Amber Alert, but was found hours later sane and safe.
The Attorney General’s office said at 5:20 p.m. a baby identified as Dylan Isaí Salazar López was reported missing by family members.
Authorities said the boy was reported one hour before as missing from his Valle de Puebla neighborhood residence at the emergency dispatching center.
The baby’s mother told police agents a woman identified as Perla “Doe,” 35, whom she met at Infant Maternal Hospital where the boy was born, was the alleged kidnapper.
The suspect was of robust complexion and had a tattoo on her back, authorities reported.
According to the victim, the suspect punched the mother and left scene with the baby.
The suspect fled on a 1994 or 1996 blue Honda Accord with California plates.
Authorities activated the Mexican Amber Alert and asked for reports regarding the whereabouts of the baby at the free hotline 01 800 00 854 00.
The Attorney General’s office said at 6:52 p.m. the baby was found.

Air quality group reinstalled
The state Secretary of Environmental Protection reinstalled a group that seeks to monitor and make recommendations about air quality in Mexicali.
Secretary Thelma Castañeda underlined the importance of the integration of the Nucleus Committee of the Air Quality Improvement Program, given its activities regarding smog emissions and sending alerts of environmental contingencies.
Federal and state agency representatives, as well as researchers from the Autonomous University of Baja California and non-profit organizations are part of this committee, she said.
Among the issues addressed during the meeting were topics regarding state air quality monitoring programs like vehicle smog inspections.
Health officials said the state must address the smog emissions to the atmosphere that might impact the city’s air quality to avoid future public health problems or reaching hazardous levels reported in other cities that have had adopted drastic measures.
The parties agreed to elaborate a working plan for the mid-term future and continue meeting with stakeholders and those interested on the issue, Castañeda said.
City pool season ends
The City of Mexicali closed the 2016 swimming pool season with an increase of 26 percent in the number of residents who attended the facilities.
Sports and Physical Culture Municipal Institute Director Valerio Camargo III said the 14 pools were opened from June 7 until September 4.
During this period 62,970 residents visited the 14 city pools, of which nine are located in the city and the rest in rural areas.
Of those, 53,000 paid their entrance and the rest were part of public programs, he said.
Camargo said the pools were inspected by state staff every week to make sure use was appropriate for residents.
Some of the pools were closed during the period due to maintenance, repairs or weather reasons.
Last year, 42,000 residents used the city pools, he said.
City Zoo manager Julio Chee said the swimming pool located at these premises will stay opened as long as the temperatures allow.
He said 18,197 residents have used the aquatic area since March 25, including child pools, a Kamikaze pool, a slide and the semi-Olympic pool.
