A man who allegedly led a criminal band dedicated to rob bank customers was arrested during the weekend by state police officers, said the Attorney General’s office.
Authorities said Andrés “Doe,” no age reported, was apprehended by Ministerial police agents and local police officers.
The suspect was arrested for his alleged connection to a robbery reported early Sept. 4 in a taco stand located at Anáhuac Boulevard at fraccionamiento Infonavit Cucapah neighborhood in southern Mexicali.
According to the victim the suspect and four men arrived on scene on a black Jeep Cherokee and threatened employees at the kitchen with firearms.
The suspects then walked to the cash register area and punched other workers to demand access to the safe.
As employees did not comply with the demand the suspects took their belongings.
Before leaving scene the suspects allegedly entered the main office and took bags with coins, a computer and a cell phone.
The investigation led to the arrest of the suspect, said Assistant Attorney General in Mexicali Fernando Ramírez.
The official said the suspect has also taken part in a series of robberies against bank customers who were robbed at gunpoint.
