Commanders who lead Mexican Navy and Military regions in Baja California are scheduled to retire after reaching service time in the Armed Forces.
Second Military Region Commander General Augusto García and Second Navy Region Admiral Víctor Uribe received plaques from Governor Francisco Vega days before their retirement.
Both commanders thanked for the support they got from state and local officials that helped them comply with orders from their Supreme Commander and President Enrique Peña.
Gov. Vega underlined the military men support to keep families safe and their fight against criminal bands.
The state implemented years ago a Unique Command in public safety terms, which created a task force against crime that encompasses all law enforcement agents under the ruling of Mexico’s military.
The Armed Forces have not announced yet who the commanders’ replacements will be.

Unemployment rate decreased
Baja California’s unemployment rate decreased from 4.0 percent in February 2015 to 3.1 percent during the same month of 2016, according to a report from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography.
The Mexican agency said the state was 15 among the 33 states in 2015 and jumped to number 10 this year.
During this year, Baja California surpassed the states of Chiapas, Hidalgo, Sinaloa, Veracruz, and Zacatecas on the unemployment rate.
Mexico’s Secretary of Labor said last month the state observed the opening of 7,898 new jobs, of which 4,822 were permanent ones and 3,076 were temporary.
Secretary of Economic Development Carlo Bonfante said improvement on manufacturing and trade are contributing factors of the unemployment rate decrease.
