Mexicali received the largest amount of tourists during the period with 282,000 visitors, the secretary said.

Tourists in the capital city spent 334 million pesos or US $2 million, followed by Tijuana with US $1.7 million, Ensenada with US $ 1.69 million, Rosarito with US $1 million, and San Felipe with US $733,333.

“These are good numbers for the (tourism) sector,” Escobedo said.

The secretary said average hotel occupancy rate statewide was 61 percent, although beach cities like Ensenada, Rosarito, and San Felipe observed weekend averages of over 90 percent.
