Second bank customer alleged robber arrested

A second individual who allegedly committed a series of robberies against bank clients was arrested Monday, said the Attorney General’s office.

Authorities said Juan Antonio “Doe” was arrested for his presumed connection to a band dedicated to rob bank customers after withdrawing money.

The criminal band alleged leader, identified as Andrés “Doe,” was arrested days before.

Assistant Attorney General in Mexicali Fernando Ramírez said Juan Antonio was arrested for his relationship to a robbery reported on Aug. 2.

Back then, the victim withdrew a high amount of money from a bank located inside a shopping mall located by Lázaro Cárdenas Boulevard.

The victim and his father attempted to return to their Fraccionamiento Villafontana subdivision home when several armed men attempted to rob them.

The victim tried to flee but his vehicle was shot. The driver got a minor injury on his back and lost control of the vehicle, which ended crashing against a residence, authorities said.

The suspects took part of the money and left scene.

Ramírez said the second suspect arrested is also related to a July 14 robbery committed against employees of Juventud 2000 Sports Center in southern Mexicali, when suspects took around 100,000 pesos or $5,555 that staff was about to deposit in a bank.
