    Trio arrested for robbery

    Two men and a woman were arrested Thursday night after allegedly committing a robbery in a pharmacy, said the Municipal Public Safety Department.

    Authorities said at 11:42 p.m. a robbery was reported at Botica Guadalupana, located at Benito Juárez Boulevard and López Mateos Boulevard.

    After arrival, police officers spoke to the business owner who told authorities a man entered the site and brandished a .22-caliber firearm.

    The suspect was able to rob him 7,000 pesos in cash or $388.89, a one dollar bill and a check of 8,700 pesos or $483.33.

    The suspect fled on a Ford Fiesta vehicle.

    Police officers stopped the vehicle minutes later, but two of the suspects attempted to flee on foot.

    Police agents found the money and the check underneath one of the vehicle’s seat.

    Authorities arrested Sergio “Doe,” 26; Timoteo “Doe,” 24 and Nayeli “Doe,” 32.

    The suspects were transported to the police headquarters.

     

    Male accused of water business robbery

    A state judge indicted Thursday individual for allegedly committing a robbery against a water vending business, said the Attorney General’s office.

    Authorities said Juan Daniel “Doe,” 22, was indicted for a robbery reported on Aug. 31 at Roberto Montenegro Street and Cerro Azul Street at Fraccionamiento Bugambilias neighborhood.

    The suspect allegedly arrived on scene and brandished a knife against an employee to rob him money and a cellular telephone.

    Mexicali police agents found and attempted to arrest the suspect, but the individual fought with the officers, punching one of them.

    The judge gave detectives three months to close the investigation and decided the suspect must remain in jail during trial.

     

    Man indicted for robbery

    A man was indicted Thursday by a state judge for his connection to a robbery reported on Aug. 30 in a gas station, said the Attorney General’s office.

    In a press release, Assistant Attorney General in Mexicali Fernando Ramírez said Raúl Alonso “Doe” was indicted for the robbery of a speaker from a gas station located at Colonia Abasolo neighborhood by the Airport Highway in northeastern Mexicali.

    Authorities said an employee attempted to confront the suspects, but a minor who was an accomplice of the indicted brandished a firearm.

    Both suspects were arrested after fleeing on a Honda CRV at Islas Agrarias Highway buy local police agents.

    The judge gave detectives three months to close the investigation and decided the suspect must remain in jail during trial.

     

    Homicide suspect arrested

    A man who allegedly killed another male on March was arrested Friday by state police officers, said the Attorney General’s office.

    In a press release, Special Investigations Coordinator in Mexicali David Lozano said the suspect was identified as Valentín “Doe,” who was accused of the murder of Lamberto Herrera Ramírez, who was found dead on March 26.

    According to authorities, the suspect and an accomplice arrived at the victim’s business at Independencia Avenue and Río Culiacán Street at Colonia Independencia and hit him on the head.

    The suspects allegedly suffocated the victim and took him into the deceased man’s gray 1999 Pontiac Sunfire vehicle.

    The victim’s body was left inside a canal located behind Fraccionamiento El Dorado neighborhood.

    The suspects then left the vehicle at Lerdo Avenue in downtown Mexicali.

    Lozano said the suspect was booked in Mexicali Jail.

     

    Puerto Rican arrested

    A Puerto Rican resident was arrested Friday at a rural area by state police agents for an active arrest warrant in the United States for drug smuggling, said the Attorney General’s office.

    Authorities said Gilberto Adam Reed Jerome was detained by state Ministerial police officers at Guadalupe Victoria city in Mexicali Valle.

    According to authorities, state troopers observed the suspect at Insurgentes Avenue and 21 Street, who attempted to flee.

    After stopping the suspect, police agents requested background information from California authorities and determined the Puerto Rican had several warrants for minor cruelty, possession and trafficking of controlled substances in Puerto Rico.

    Jerome had another arrest warrant for possession of oxicodona with attempt to distribute in Louisiana, for a misdemeanor in Washington State and Arizona.

    According to authorities, the suspect offered money to the police agents in order to let him free.

    State police officers transported the suspect to the National Immigration Institute for his deportation.
