    Lawmaker assistant arrested

    A state lawmaker assistant was recently arrested by police officers under allegations of causing injuries and making threats

    A state lawmaker assistant was arrested last weekend for injuries and threats, La Crónica newspaper said.

    According to the newspaper, the police arrested Abraham “N,” at 6:40 p.m. Friday at the Ícono Bar, located by Zaragoza Avenue.

    A security guard accused the 36-year-old suspect of assault and threats.

    The suspect is the assistant of National Action Party Assembly member Diego Echevarría.

    According to the report, the lawmaker assistant fought back after a security guard denied his companion from entering the bar’s tower.

    Upon arrival, police officers were unable to find the suspect. However, the suspect was arrested after exiting another bar located across from Ícono Bar.

    The lawmaker’s assistant was taken to the police headquarters.

    The suspect was arrested in August for alleged firearm possession and driving under the influence.

    Man flees from police custody

    A man who was about to get booked in Mexicali Prison fled from police custody.

    The state Attorney General’s office said Wilber “N,” fled from state police custody right before being booked.

    State and Mexicali Police officers search for the suspect in the surrounding areas.

    The individual was apprehended hours later.

    Man found dead in park

    A man was found dead inside a park restroom, according to police records.

    The incident was reported Saturday in western Mexicali’s Colonia Ampliación Refugio area.

    According to the police, the man had a syringe in his hand and had his feet burned.

    The dead man was in his mid-30s and was dressed in a light blue shirt and blue denim jeans.

    Authorities said the man had his feet burned due to a bonfire.

    Two indicted for murder

    Two men were indicted by a state judge for the October murder of a victim.

    The state Attorney General’s office said the judge indicted Alfredo Abisai “N” and Daniel “N” for the Oct. 26 homicide of José Iván “N.”

    According to the agency, the suspects allegedly killed the victim with a knife and a metallic tube.

    The victim was transported to the General Hospital with several wounds on the head where he succumbed to the injuries.

    The judge decided to keep the suspects in prison during trial and gave prosecutors four months to close the investigation.

    Man convicted for pederasty

    A man was sentenced by a state judge for pederasty, the state Attorney General’s office said.

    According to the authorities, the judge sentenced José Cuahutli Mujica Barrea to seven years in prison for the May 2019 incident.

    The agency said the convicted man took a 15-year-old victim to a motel located by the San Felipe Highway.

    The couple had sexual intercourse at the site.

    Through testimony and testing, prosecutors proved Mujica Barrea’s involvement in the case.

    The man’s defense attorney and prosecutors reached an agreement that led to the sentencing.

    The judge also ruled Mujica Barrea must pay about $450 USD in Mexican currency for damage repair to the victim.

    Man indicted for sexual abuse of a minor

    A state judge indicted a man for sexual abuse of a minor.

    The state Attorney General’s office said the judge indicted Jaime “N,” no age reported, for the January sexual abuse of a 10-year-old girl.

    The incident was reported in a home located in an undisclosed area on New Year’s Day.

    According to the agency, the suspect allegedly took the minor to a bedroom to inappropriately touch her.

    The minor told her relatives about the incident and family members filed a complaint.

    The judge decided to give prosecutors six months to close the investigation. In the meantime, the suspect will remain in prison.

    Homicide suspect nabbed

    A man who was sought for a May 2022 murder was arrested by state police officers.

    The state Attorney General’s office said agents with the State Investigations Agency arrested Alexis “N,”, aka Furcio, no age reported, for the May 3, 2022 homicide.

    According to the agency, the suspect and another man allegedly arrived at the victim’s residence in the Fraccionamiento Rincones de Puebla area to commit a robbery.

    During the incident, the suspects allegedly killed Alfredo “N” during an assault.

    After the homicide, the suspects allegedly took the victim’s vehicle to flee from the scene.

    The suspect was booked in Mexicali Prison under charges of homicide and robbery.
