Justices of the State Supreme Court are still considering the creation of a retirement program for themselves and other judiciary officials.
Baja California’s Chief Justice Jorge Armando Vásquez said during a presentation with the Madrugadores Group that the proposal is still under study.
The official added the proposal seeks to create a retirement account funded by justices and judges.
Last year justices proposed a retirement program paid for entirely with public funds that would have given beneficiaries 100 percent of their last salaries for several years, which was also set to be inherited by decedents.
The proposal was killed after months of controversy and lawsuits.
During the presentation Vásquez said out of the 40 courtrooms in the state 18 have adopted the electronic system that facilitates the opening and accessing of files from any platform, including smartphones.
This, he added, makes justices and attorneys save money and time.
