Mexican feds provide help to immigrants

Two groups of federal health personnel arrived at the state in order to provide services to Haitian and African immigrants, said Secretary of Public Health Guillermo Trejo.

The groups from the Emergency Attention Operating Center, or COPAC in Spanish, were deployed by the federal government in order to increase health services for thousands of immigrants who have arrived in the last months.

The teams include primary health staff and specialists in epidemiologies, nurses, dentists, psychologists and a doctor trained in cultural diversity.

The federal personnel will provide services at the five shelters in Mexicali and others in Tijuana and Ensenada.

As of today, 6,030 health examinations have been made at the shelters, of which 973 were made in Mexicali.

Doctors have also provided 123 pre-natal consultations and 207 dental examinations, while 106 patients have been diagnosed with severe diarrea.
